YOUNG POSITIVIST WRITES  Why waste Taxpayers money on a National Cathedral? Majority of Ghanaians believe in God and strongly uphold their biblical teachings but this in any way does not suggest Ghana is a religious biased country because several other religious sects are also present here.  Additionally, all these religious sects play a vital role in a bid to sustain the peace we enjoy as Ghanaians. So the question is why construct a national cathedral for Christians only? What about our Muslim brothers and sisters? What about the traditionalists? Do we really need this? Is it a well thought move? Is it of priority or a move just to win the joy of the masses? On 6th March, 2017, the then newly sworn in President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo announced that there was going to be a construction of a 5000-seater national cathedral and situated at Ridge in Accra. This news was met with several criticism from some section of the public. 5000-seater...

YOUNG POSITIVIST Writes.                  CHALE WOTE FESTIVAL The Ghanaian culture by all standard is one which is envied by the masses. The African culture affords its people with numerous benefits with the predominant being the provision of a platform for uniting several persons in a integrated manner. The Chale wote Street Festival is obviously such of a kind celebrated in the country. Chale wote Street Festival is a festival celebrated by artists, dancers, musicians and the general populace on the street of James town in Accra-Ghana. Though not a long celebrated festival it has survived the stance of eight years now. Its observance and commemoration continues each year. This year, the Chale wote festival spanned from 20th August to 26th August 2018. At its commencement, fewer numbers could be spotted at the location from Monday to Thursday with the number more than doubled entering Saturday and Sunday. Intuitively, the rise i...

YOUNG POSITIVIST writes  IN  THE WAKE OF THE BANKING CRISES .  The financial institution within a country is indeed the resilient force that builds an economy. It is therefore imperative that a close supervisory and control system is devised in a bid to check these institutions else we face a mess. Here in Ghana, about a year ago news broke concerning the collapse of two giant Ghanaian banks namely Capital and UT bank. Little did we know that there were more surprises in subsequent days. Following the non-performance of these banks at the earlier stated period, the governor of the central bank Dr. Ernest Addison announced the takeover of the two indigenous banks in the country with its purchase and assumption role charged to the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB). According to the governor, ‘UT Bank and Capital Bank were deeply insolvent’. What this imply is that their liabilities exceeded their assets, putting them in a position not to be able to meet their obligation...

YOUNG POSITIVIST writes. DO NOT BOW TO THE PRESSURE OF FIFA The past few months have been challenging for the Ghana football Association. The expose’ by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas premiered on the 6th and 7th of June 2018 dubbed ‘number 12' revealed a lot of rots in in our football circle. The expose' to a larger extent provided the empirical evidence to critics who opined that the association mandated to oversee football in the country was engulfed in outright rot of corruption. This rather unfortunate revelation made Ghanaians to loose interest in Ghana football with little or none following updates of even the Ghana Black Stars. Against this backdrop, the government of Ghana  ultimately halted all football activities in the country. Meanwhile, a recent document from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) copied to the government demands a rescission of decision within a two week ultimatum period. However, some facts have t...

YOUNG POSITIVIST writes. Leaders, Plan for University as well! “Education is the key to development” is a very common quote you are likely to find every Ghanaian rattle. Undeniably, this quote is indeed a true statement. More so the development of every country rests on the presence of an effective educational structure. Let’s now turn our attention to education in Ghana especially SHS education. Free senior high school education is a blessing to the country most especially for those who never dreamt of pursuing SHS education. This initiative saw many brilliant but needy JHS levers continuing their education, a dream fulfilled. Most Ghanaians and parents have praised the government for this bold and costly initiative. However, in as much as government is paying attention to Secondary Education, I think it is time for attention to be geared towards university education and adequate plans initiated to absorb these students. As expected from our “able politicians” numerous pl...
