Former EC Boss and Nana Addo.

Nana Addo has done nothing wrong.
It has become imperative for every democratic state to have an effective institution aimed at steering her electoral processes in a bid to govern elections within the country. This institutional bedrock plays a crucial role in sustaining the state of democracy in the country. The election of presidents and MPs are spearheaded solely by this particular noble institution. Meanwhile, the electoral commissioner and her two deputies got fired basically because they failed in performing up to expectation. Other put, their competency was questionable. Many Ghanaians embraced this particular breaking news from the presidency with disdain and some others could not help but attack the personality of the president. Several people did not concur with the decision reached by the committee of enquiry submitted to the president. It still remains that enough discussions have been centred on the EC boss but what about the performance of her two deputies. Did the president err at all in changing the heads of the office?
We live not in a banana republic but in a democratic country governed by principles and rules encapsulated in a mother body called law. News of the electoral commission for some time now has made headway in the headlines of several media houses. However, the very reason for the internal struggling amongst these heads is a riddle Ghanaians are still finding answers to. Apparently, these heads point fingers at one another whenever the subject matter of fund misappropriating is discussed. Some concerned citizens could not help but petition the president on this issue. H.E Nana Addo further forwarded the petition to the Chief Justice for onward investigation and deliberations.
The emergence of this case in question initially was approached from a political angle when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) accused the ruling NPP government for unduly just hating on the EC chairperson. Sincerely, some NPP big wings while in opposition faced difficulties in dealing with Mrs Charlotte Osei without forgetting the unsubstantiated allegation they levelled against her right after her appointment.
If readers may recall then presidential NPP candidate Nana Addo commended the electoral commissioner and her team for the great work done during his acceptance remarks when the opposition had won.
This is the full statement issued by the information minister concerning EC’s removal.
Several critics after this particular release has chastised the president for firing the EC boss and her deputies. I’m still thrilled as to why they are not talking about her two deputies but the NDC generally has descended heavily on the decision of the president. However, whether the president committed a blunder in this particular undertaking still remains. Do we no longer live in a democratic state governed by laws? Must established institutions not work? Need we politicize any issues that springs up? We ought to be serious in this country.
It will not add up if we descend on the president. Clearly, this was the commission’s report submitted to him by the Chief Justice requiring him to act which he did. There is no wrong doing here. Indeed, we ought to praise the president for such a bold decision taken.
Where were these critics when the EC boss was having public banters with her deputies in the public view What about the several corruption brouhahas? Did they have the state at heart?
It is a good course to clean the rot in the EC so Ghanaians will have faith in this body anytime they organize election. The citizens must trust the system and the people in charge of it hence a step in the right direction.
Let us deepen our democracy. Let shred ourselves from partisan politics and do the needful. This is a humble opinion of a YOUNG POSITIVIST. Ghana must work again. Ghana will work again. YOUNG POSITIVIST a concerned citizen of Ghana.
